Does anything ever hurt master Yon-way? Is he ever angry? Sad? Upset? Honestly, we don’t know. Because this loving, warm and charming character is known as reliable, caring and always open to help out and give some advice to a creature in need. The master is often seen around “The Sanctuary” in the city of Ran-Dena, taking care of the orphans who live there, helping them with their struggles and teaching both the children and interested strangers a combination of meditation and martial arts to achieve a greater inner balance.
So what lies below this calm and loving facade? Who can say. But the world seems a bit nicer when he is around.
Master Yon-Way is voiced by Bryan Ramage, who is known as the singing and guitar playing driving force behind Scottish Progressive Epic Metal band Ramage Inc. However, this is the first time Bryan is heard as a voice actor!
Here’s what he had to say about playing this character:
“Tom and I are connected through music and his label where my band Ramage Inc is signed on, so when I expressed interest in voice acting (when I heard about this project) he offered me the part of Master Yon-Way.
A character that Tom thought was fitting for me and my voice. Yon-Way seems like a rather relaxed guy that doesn’t take things too seriously unless it’s absolutely needed, which is a cool approach I think. Also his sense of humor, dry as it may be, is fun to play around with.
Also the world Tom has built with Talebearer is one I quite like, as it appeals to my love for videogames like Final Fantasy, Star Ocean and others that I played when I was younger. So this project really is a cool extension of that!”
